Come with an open mind and a great sense of adventure, together we can turn any voyage into a wonderful Expedition.

FRIDAY 27 JANUARY

Australia to Santiago (Chile)

Depart Australia today flying with Qantas (air inclusive packages) and arrive in Santiago on the same day. Transfer to Santiago’s Mandarin Oriental Hotel.

One of the world’s most prestigious hotel groups provides an inviting welcome to your journey of discovery. Join fellow travellers on a brief tour of Santiago and cable car trip to the top of San Cristobal Hill for spectacular views across the Chilean city, framed by the enormous Andes Mountains.

Come together this evening for a casual welcome dinner, getting to know your Constellation Journey Leaders and travel companions.

SATURDAY 28 JANUARY

Valparaiso

If Santiago is a purveyor of high-brow culture, Valparaiso is its colourful, oft chaotic, cousin. Today we get to know this charming UNESCO World Heritage Site and the nearby Garden City, Vina Del Mar. Enjoy a leisurely lunch before returning to Santiago.

Back in Santiago we dine on excellent Chilean cuisine, with a welcome dinner, including fine Chilean wines, at Barraca 94, close to our hotel.

SUNDAY 29 JANUARY

Join Silver Wind

Join a private charter flight from Santiago to Ushuaia – ‘the city at the end of the world’, on the Southern tip of Tierra Del Fuego in Argentina.

Here we join Silver Wind. Carrying no more than 270 guests Silver Wind will ensure your experience of Antarctica is as intimate as it is luxurious.

Enjoy a drink in the Bar or Panorama Lounge as you watch the distant cliffs of Ushuaia fade into the horizon.

MONDAY 30 & TUESDAY 31 JANUARY

Constellation Star CMYK.png

Drake Passage

Sail south towards the promise of icy new worlds in Antarctica. The Drake Passage is an extraordinary voyage of romantic ocean faring legend and you’re in the expert hands of our experienced commander and crew. Converging warm and cool ocean currents attract some spectacular animal life to the passage including soaring albatrosses, perhaps even a protective pod of humpbacks or hourglass dolphins.

Enjoy these two days getting to know our luxurious ship, partaking in the exquisite dining you’d expect aboard a ship with European heritage.

WEDNESDAY 1 FEBRUARY

Antarctic Sound

All else fades in comparison to the absolute majesty of Antarctica, nothing can truly prepare you. Your first encounter with this whitewashed kingdom is the Antarctic Sound, at the northerly tip of the Antarctic Peninsula.

It is a raw, sensory assault of imposing iceberg slabs, broken away from the disintegrating Larsen Ice Shelf. Come face-to-face with stadium-sized islands of ice and meet the extraordinary birdlife. Enjoy a choice of excursions today – Zodiac through the icebergs; hike onshore with the Expedition Team; or steer your own kayak around the Antarctic Sound.

The dining room will be abuzz tonight with talk of a thrilling day.

THURSDAY 2 –  SATURDAY 4 FEBRUARY

Constellation Star CMYK.png

Antarctic Peninsula

Unseen by humans until 1820 the Antarctic Peninsula unravels upwards towards South America, reaching out a beckoning finger to the adventurous who dare to explore this untamed realm. Soon you will be one of them.

For three full days you will experience the snow-blanketed landscapes, extraordinary wildlife and colossal ice sculptures of the world’s least-explored continent.

Zodiac around the waters, paying homage to the enormous icebergs and keeping an eye out for whales and sea-lions. Step onto the Antarctic tundra in search of Adelie penguins and fur seals, learning about the natural environment from the Expedition Team and on-board resident experts. You will even have the opportunity, should you wish, to hop aboard a kayak and paddle your way around the waters, in amongst the seals – a humbling experience.

Each evening join your Constellation Journeys team in the Bar prior to dinner, sharing stories of the day. You will always have the option to dine alone, with newfound friends or with the Constellation team – it’s entirely your choice. But rest assured, no matter who you dine with, the food will be a true highlight – and drinks are always included, you never need worry about who signs the bill.

One of the advantages of this voyage is that everything you can reasonably think of is included. Always.

SUNDAY 5 FEBRUARY

Constellation Star CMYK.png

South Shetland Islands

A day in the South Shetland Islands completes your Antarctic experience.

It’s a varied society in the South Shetlands – Argentines, Bulgarians, Brazilians, Chileans and Chinese call this region home (if at times only temporarily), as well as whales, elephant seals and penguin species such as Gentoo, Chinstrap and Adelie.

King George Island is the largest island, home to the majority of the research stations. It also offers visitors unparalleled adventure opportunities in one of the most remote locations on earth.

You’ll feel your heart pumping a little quicker as you sail into the core of Deception Island’s magnificent collapsed volcano caldera. Join your Expedition Team on a hike around the lunar landscapes within, perhaps even dip into the surprisingly warm, geothermally heated waters of Pendulum Cove.

Visit Elephant Island, the site where Ernest Shackleton and the stricken crew of the Endurance miraculously survived a harsh Antarctic winter in 1916, and marvel at their ingenuity and resilience.

MONDAY 6 & TUESDAY 7 FEBRUARY

Constellation Star CMYK.png

Drake Passage

Your final two days cruising can be as busy or relaxing as you please. Silver Wind offers plenty of diversions to keep you entertained – join a lecture given by the resident ornithologist and fill in any gaps in your knowledge of Antarctica’s birdlife or meet with the on-board geologist and gain a deeper understanding of the land itself.

Head to the Panorama Lounge and enjoy a barista made coffee as you keep an eye out for the wildlife that frequent the Drake Passage. Both keen and casual photographers can take their devices to the Photo Studio and to use the equipment and learn more about making the most of your photography through Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.

WEDNESDAY 8 FEBRUARY

Our day ends with a special farewell dinner this evening.
