We invite you to join us on this very special European river journey, created to mark ten years of Constellation Journeys and celebrate the shared experiences and friendships that have shaped our travels over the past decade.
Beginning in Zurich, we travel to Basel before embarking on an extraordinary journey along three of Europe’s most iconic waterways – the Rhine, Main and Danube. From the vineyard-covered hills and storybook villages of Alsace to the historic towns of Germany, the journey reveals a rich tapestry of landscapes, culture and history. Strasbourg, Bamberg and Regensburg are among the highlights, before we join the Danube and continue through the beautiful Wachau Valley to Vienna. Thoughtfully curated excursions are complemented by opportunities to explore independently and enjoy the journey at a more leisurely pace.
Central to the experience is our privately chartered ship, a brand-new vessel designed specifically for private charters. With an exceptional sense of space, expansive lounges, panoramic windows, beautifully considered public areas and generously sized staterooms and suites, it offers a level of comfort rarely found on the rivers. Arrive Zurich (Switzerland)
Welcome to Zurich, where our 10th Anniversary European River Voyage begins. On arrival, transfer to the elegant Park Hyatt Zurich and settle into your surroundings.
This evening, we come together for dinner at the hotel – a relaxed opportunity to meet your fellow travellers and the Constellation Journeys team before our journey through the heart of Europe begins.
MONDAY 23 AUGUST
Zurich – Basel – Join Transcend Evolve
Discover Zurich this morning on a guided walking tour through the heart of the city. Follow the famous Bahnhofstrasse before exploring the historic Old Town along the Limmatquai, with its distinctive guild houses and St Peter’s Church. There will be time to appreciate the city at your own pace before travelling to Basel this afternoon.
Here, our privately chartered Transcend Evolve awaits. Settle into your stateroom or suite and begin to make yourself at home. Tonight, we celebrate the beginning of our special anniversary journey with a Constellation Journeys Gala Welcome Event.
TUESDAY 24 AUGUST
Basel
Today offers a choice of two experiences.
Travel to Lucerne, one of Switzerland’s most beautiful cities, for a guided exploration taking in the Chapel Bridge, Old Town and Lion Monument. After lunch, continue to Alpnachstad and board the steep cogwheel railway to the summit of Mount Pilatus. Enjoy spectacular alpine views before descending by panoramic cable car and returning to Basel.
Alternatively, explore Basel on a guided walking tour, discovering its historic centre, distinctive architecture and riverside setting. Return to Transcend Evolve for lunch and enjoy a relaxed afternoon aboard before we sail this evening.
WEDNESDAY 25 AUGUST
Breisach (Germany)
Wake to the changing scenery of the Rhine as we arrive in Breisach, gateway to the beautiful Alsace and Black Forest regions.
The Alsatian Wine Road takes you through picturesque villages including Ribeauvillé, Riquewihr and Colmar, surrounded by vineyards and rolling countryside. Enjoy local wine tastings and a traditional Alsatian lunch as you discover this charming region.
Alternatively, journey into Germany’s Black Forest and to the tranquil shores of Lake Titisee. Enjoy the scenery, a relaxing boat ride and local specialities, with a traditional cuckoo clock demonstration adding a quintessential Black Forest touch.
Return to the ship this afternoon and enjoy dinner as we continue along the Rhine.
THURSDAY 26 AUGUST
Strasbourg (France)
Today we discover Strasbourg, where French and German influences have created a fascinating blend of cultures, architecture and traditions.
A panoramic drive takes in the European Parliament before continuing on foot through the atmospheric Petite France district. Enjoy a taste of tarte flambée before visiting the magnificent Strasbourg Cathedral.
Alternatively, explore the history of Alsatian wine with a special visit to the Cave Historique des Hospices de Strasbourg. Discover its centuries-old traditions and enjoy a tasting within this remarkable historic cellar.
This evening, leave the ship for a special Constellation Journeys Gala Dinner.
FRIDAY 27 AUGUST
Speyer (Germany)
Enjoy a leisurely morning aboard Transcend Evolve as we continue along the Rhine. Take advantage of the ship’s facilities, relax with a good book or simply watch the passing landscapes from the deck. Lunch aboard provides another opportunity to enjoy the convivial atmosphere of our private charter.
Arriving in Speyer this afternoon, choose between two experiences.
Travel to Heidelberg, one of Germany’s most celebrated historic cities, and explore its picturesque streets and famous castle, dramatically positioned above the town.
Alternatively, discover Speyer itself on a guided walking tour, exploring its historic centre and learning more about this fascinating city whose story stretches back almost two thousand years.
Return to the ship for an evening at leisure.
SATURDAY 28 AUGUST
Mainz
Arrive in Mainz this morning, a city whose long history is closely connected to the Rhine and to one of the most important inventions in human history.
A guided walking tour takes you through the atmospheric Old Town before visiting the Gutenberg Museum. Discover original examples of early printing and learn how Gutenberg’s invention transformed the spread of knowledge across Europe and beyond.
Return to Transcend Evolve and enjoy a relaxed afternoon as we cruise onward, with the river scenery providing a constantly changing backdrop.
SUNDAY 29 AUGUST
Wertheim
Spend the morning enjoying the pleasures of river travel as Transcend Evolve follows the Main. Relax on board, take in the passing countryside and enjoy a leisurely lunch with your fellow travellers.
We arrive in Wertheim this afternoon, a charming medieval town at the meeting point of the Main and Tauber rivers.
Visit the Glass Museum, with its fascinating collection tracing the history and artistry of glassmaking, accompanied by a live glassblowing demonstration. Alternatively, take a guided walk through the historic Old Town, with its timber-framed houses, lively market square and flood markers revealing the town’s long relationship with the river.
Return to the ship this evening for another convivial dinner.
MONDAY 30 AUGUST
Würzburg
Today we arrive in Würzburg, a beautiful city surrounded by vineyards and steeped in history.
Visit the magnificent Würzburg Residence, one of Europe’s great Baroque palaces and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Explore its grand staircase, richly decorated interiors and remarkable frescoes, including the celebrated work of Giovanni Battista Tiepolo.
Alternatively, discover Würzburg on foot, combining its historic sights and architecture with a taste of local culinary tradition, including a weisswurst tasting.
Return to Transcend Evolve this afternoon and enjoy some time to relax aboard before dinner and our continued journey along the Main.
TUESDAY 31 AUGUST
Bamberg
Enjoy a relaxed morning aboard as the river carries us towards Bamberg. Take time for breakfast, enjoy the ship’s facilities or simply watch the countryside glide past.
We arrive in Bamberg this afternoon, one of Germany’s most beautiful historic cities and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Explore its atmospheric Old Town, wandering beside the canals of Little Venice and admiring the remarkable Old Town Hall, dramatically positioned on an island in the Regnitz River.
Our tour also introduces one of Bamberg’s most distinctive traditions – its famous smoked beer, or Rauchbier. Enjoy a tasting and discover why this unusual speciality has become synonymous with the city.
Return to the ship this evening for dinner as our journey continues towards Nuremberg.
WEDNESDAY 1 SEPTEMBER
Nuremberg
Today offers a choice between two very different perspectives on Nuremberg.
A walking tour explores the city’s medieval heart, beginning at the imposing Imperial Castle before continuing through the Old Town to the Hauptmarkt and Beautiful Fountain.
Alternatively, delve into Nuremberg’s twentieth-century history on a dedicated WWII experience. Visit the historic courtroom associated with the Nuremberg Trials, subject to availability, and explore the Documentation Center and former Nazi Rally Grounds. Together, these sites provide a powerful insight into the rise of the Nazi regime and the aftermath of the Second World War.
Return to Transcend Evolve this afternoon and enjoy the remainder of the day aboard as we continue towards the Danube.
THURSDAY 2 SEPTEMBER
Regensburg
Arrive in Regensburg late this morning, one of Germany’s best-preserved medieval cities.
Choose between a visit to Thurn und Taxis Palace, former residence of one of Europe’s most influential noble families, where you can discover its richly decorated interiors and remarkable history.
Alternatively, explore historic Regensburg on foot. Admire the magnificent cathedral, cross the medieval Old Stone Bridge and wander through the atmospheric Old Town, with its cobbled streets, colourful buildings and historic squares.
Return to the ship this evening and enjoy dinner with new-found friends as we sail towards Passau.
FRIDAY 3 SEPTEMBER
Passau
Our final stop in Germany is the picturesque city of Passau, beautifully situated at the confluence of three rivers – the Danube, Inn and Ilz.
A walking tour introduces the historic centre, from the elegant Domplatz to magnificent St Stephen’s Cathedral. Here, enjoy an organ demonstration featuring the cathedral’s extraordinary instrument before continuing through the narrow streets and colourful facades of the Old Town.
Alternatively, venture beyond Passau to Aldersbach Monastery and Brewery. Enjoy a traditional Bavarian meal and an entertaining Oktoberfest-style experience.
Back aboard, relax and enjoy our final evening on the river before crossing into Austria.
SATURDAY 4 SEPTEMBER
Melk & Dürnstein (Austria)
Today is one of the scenic highlights of our journey as we cruise through the beautiful Wachau Valley.
Arrive in Melk this morning and visit its magnificent Benedictine Abbey, perched above the Danube. Explore its spectacular Baroque interiors, Marble Hall and library before taking in the views across the surrounding landscape.
Enjoy lunch aboard as we continue through the Wachau to Dürnstein, one of Austria’s most picturesque riverside villages.
This afternoon, discover the region’s celebrated winemaking traditions with a visit to the Domäne Wachau estate. Explore its historic cellar before enjoying a tasting of its renowned Grüner Veltliner and Riesling wines, accompanied by regional delicacies.
Return to Transcend Evolve for dinner as we journey towards Vienna.
SUNDAY 5 SEPTEMBER
Vienna
Our final day of sightseeing presents three options.
Experience the timeless music of Mozart, Beethoven and other great composers in one of Vienna’s magnificent palaces, combining exceptional music with the grandeur and history of an extraordinary setting.
Discover one of Vienna’s most cherished traditions on a guided walk through its historic coffeehouses. Learn about their role in the city’s cultural life while enjoying traditional Viennese treats including Sachertorte and Apfelstrudel.
Alternatively, explore Schönbrunn Palace, the magnificent former summer residence of the Habsburg emperors and a UNESCO World Heritage site, with its opulent interiors, fascinating history and beautiful gardens.
This evening, we come together one final time for a special Constellation Journeys Gala Farewell Dinner – a fitting celebration of the experiences and friendships gathered along the Rhine, Main and Danube, and of ten years of extraordinary journeys together.
MONDAY 6 SEPTEMBER
Depart Vienna
After breakfast, our 10th Anniversary European River Voyage comes to an end. Transfer to the airport for your onward journey, taking with you wonderful memories of the cities, landscapes, food and wine – and, most importantly, the people who made this very special journey what it was.
